2 December 1998 <<-
Chrissy!
Heh, back again peeps, dunno if
you remember but GTArally was scheduled for mid Sept... 3 months back ;-)
Valdez has began to make another
GTA project... this will only prolong the release of gtarally one can only
assume.
I think I may add some more areas
to this page on the weekend..... we'll see.
There has been a gtarally clone emerging,
but I'm not mentioning any names.... the imposters know who they are......
hope you can live with it.
30 November 1998 <<- Chrissy!
Hey Peeps, right, we have four maps
(I think) Downtown, Seaside Drive, Country Drive.... and another... which
is a bit screwed, but I'm sure we'll get it sorted :)
Christmas release...... hmmm we'll
see, I know a few of you peeps are getting a little hot under the collar,
but you want it to be perfect don't you?
Um don't forget to goto GTA
Sideswipe and vote for this page on the ratings
I'll be off now, oh yeah...........
my site!
(soz valdez... couldn't resist:)
10 November 1998:
Sorry about the lack of updates, but GTA Rally slowed down to a complete
standstill recently. Anyway, the ball is rolling again, we have two
new maps, bringing the total to 2 finished, 1 practically done and 2 well
underway. I think that Santa may be giving you GTA Rally at this
rate! Looking at a Mid Dec, possibly Christmas release? (I hope!)
6 October 1998:
Me and Azz are both hard at work on the new map, Country Drive.
CD has new "dirt" roads adding to that rally feeling. Go check it
out in the maps section. Somehow I don't think that we are gonna
make the Mid October release date :) Everything is done but the fudging
maps! PLEASE, I am BEGGING! If you can make maps, EMAIL ME!
23 September 1998:
Chrissyb rang me today - it was scary to say the least. We had
a very odd conversation ranging from dirty old men to local slang.
He might be coming down (oops up) and visiting me - we shoudl be able to
film the avi for GTA Rally gold, oh and play some GTA Rally too - KICK
ARSE!
Oh and Ralph (Ascii-7) if you are reading this, Chrissyb sounds just
like you! Wierd or what?
22 September 1998:
Okay, GTA Rally is rolling again - Azz has started on a new Point2Point
map, Angus (my mate) has started on a Point2Point for SA and I and doing
a circuit for SA. That will be 5/6 maps! GTA Rally is coming
along okay at this rate :)
Oh and BIG news on a special version of GTA Rally but it is
very hush hush at the mo. Only four people know on the NET.
19 September 1998:
Azz is now back from where-ever he was and GTA Rally is once again
"going full steam". Azz has started work on another map and With
any luck, we should have a new member of the team very soon :) GTA
Rally is still going ahead for that Mid October release - we can do it!
12 September 1998:
Okay Beta Testers, the Beta is out - please playtest it but don't distribute
it. Please, please, please, we NEED map makers, if you have any map
skills then please tell us! Thanks. Valdez
9 September 1998:
Sorry fo the lack of updates but I have been busy with some stuff.
Good news for the Beta Testers, the Beta version is out on THIS Friday.
Chrissyb has done more work on his map Sea Side Drive (he added 2 missions
and did some new areas, etc.) I am still, however, waiting on a third
map. If there is anyone out there who wants to help - please send
us a map! Valdez
1 September 1998:
Okay then, all the Beta Tester places have been taken so don't go wasting
your time and mine by sending me "Please Can I be a Beta Tester Valdez?"
you will just have to wait for it to be released. Oh and what do
you think of the GTA Rally Animated Gif? Chrissyb did that one you
know! Oh Chrissyb has also sorted out some new "tile" graphics.
SeaSide Drive is shaping up nicley.
BTW: Want an easy way to get on the GTA Rally Design team? Simply
make a GOOD Track (Point2Point or loop) using the San Andreas Textures.
If you do something worth while, you will get on the team.
31 August 1998:
You know what - I lied, there are not 15 Beta Tester places open -
there are now only 10! You have about 12 hours to get in on the act
(4 places have already gone!). Come on, take part in the biggest
GTA Thing since DP!
30 August 1998:
Okay, sorry for the lack of updates recently, but GTA Rally was up
in the air for a bit when I got back. Okay, here is the situation
- Azz has left to do some school work else where and will not be back for
a month or so ... at the moment it is just me a Chrissyb but you will be
glad to hear that we are coping!
We now have 2 finished maps! One Track race, Downtown and one
"Point2Point" race, SeaSide Drive. Both of these maps look cool and
as they say "Things can only get better!".
I have added a new link down the side, Map, from there you can get
info on all the GTA Rally maps, at the moment there are only two, but you
can see renders, in-game shots, mini-maps, and a cool description.
GTA Rally is probably not going to make it for Mid Sept, so, try Mid Oct.
Oh yer, GTA Rally Beta 1 is out next week ... just thought you'd like
to know. Oh and one other thing. We are only releasing it to
15 people,
15 August 1998:
Right, I am on holiday this week and as I am the only one with access
to this page - there will be no updates, but I am sure that Azz will do
some more work on "Downtown". Oh and when I get back, we should nearly
be at beta tester phase!
Anyway - I am outta here - try not to email me too much eh? I
don't want a MASSIVE Mailbox when I get back.
13 August 1998:
It is 3:48 - in the morning. I have not been to sleep yet, instead
I have been listening to Radion 1 and working on the four piccies from
our first map "Downtown". Thats right, haul your arse over to the
Files section and you can see 4 beatifully rendered pictures from our first
map, Downtown, that Azz is currently working on. I will release some
more pictures in due corse, but you can cream your pants over these ones
first ;) ... well, what are you waiting for?!?
12 August 1998:
Good news people! The Beta test of GTA Rally is nearly out!
Azz's map is nearly complete and after me and him have had a chat about
a few things, we can possibly release a cut-down test version for you to
try out. I have also added Azz's new car to the files section - I
will add Black Deaths new car soon.
Laters
11 August 1998:
Right then - we now have two test maps, one made by our man Azz the
other by a "soon to be" team member, DJSenseless. From what I have
seen, both of them seem to have the right idea. I myself am also
thinking about getting in on the map scene and I will try to churn out
some maps.
As soon as Azz's map (Nearer completeion) has had a bit more polishing
and we have discussed some ideas together, I will replease a test version
for you to go and play with. For security reasons, you will only
get to use an old version of the Subaru Impreza (The one from the San Andreas
Car Impound).
I also got all 7 cars with stats set-up in Liberty City today.
Looks like completion is nearer that I think :)
10 August 1998:
Okay, Azz has sent me the deltas to the Skoda Felica - and as a result
we now have 7 cars ready to roll. Now we just need to work on the
maps. If you have any map making skills and feel that you could projduce
a quality rally map - you can help by sending in any rally maps that you
make. It doesn't matter if they are quite small - I just want to
see what quality your work is at.
Thanks
9 August 1998:
The project is now moving along quite nicley. We now have 7 rally
cars - a few more should just about do it. Now is your chance to
help us at GTA Rally - we are looking for an volenters to draw up some
team trucks to replace the Bus, Coach and Tanker in Liberty City.
We need them to look really realistic as they will feature at the start
and end of the courses.
You can check out the latest cars under the "files" section.
I have already recieved many emails from people asking when GTA Rally is
going to be released. At the moment, the ETA is Mid September, but
don't hold your breath - I haven't seen a single map yet :)
Side note: I have recieved LOADS of mails about various aspects
of GTA Rally, but i got one of these today:
"I think GTA RALLY is a bloody brilliant idea I've been waiting
for something like this since the day I bought Grand Theft Auto Which may
I add is probably the best game I have played in my life!!!"
It is always good to have enthusiasm :)
7 August 1998:
Okay, Matthew Taylor sent in his second car to the project and as a
result, he can now become a project member. I have also been sent
a request to joing from a map maker. We now have a predicted 5 people
on the team and to be honest, this is quite suficient.
I have added the new car, A Hyundai Tiburon and you can find it under
the Files section. We now have 3 maps underway. Azz promised
me some more cars tomorow.
** STOP PRESS** : Okay, Azz gave me his new car - the Fiat Ibiza.
This is another hatchback rally car and looks really cool. Only need
a few more cars and we will have enough! (Got 6, want 8-10)
** STOP PRESS AGAIN! ** : Azz has just sent me his re-make of the Subaru
Impreza 95 and it looks a lot better - go check it out - oh and someone
sent some Ideas in too.
6 August 1998:
Right then, I am going to try and get the V3-URL up, but we seem to
be getting visitors from the ClaraNET address. Okay, I have now added
something rather special to the Files section ... You can now get a glimpse
at all four cars! I have managed to find a way to display them without
people being able to nick them and use them in their own projects.
Go and have a look now and you can see how impressive the Total Conversion
is going to be!
5 August 1998:
Okay, right at the moment, I am having LOADS of trouble with this pages,
V3-URL. It should be http://come.to/gtarally - but I am having some
difficulties.
Azz sent me a new Renault Megane that he had been working on, it is
slightly better than Chrissyb's, so it is going to be used instead.
I hope to be able to display some of the cars that will appear in the project
soon. I just need to find a way to stop people copying them off the
site so that they can use them in their own projects.
4 August 1998:
Okay, welcome to the GTA Rally homepage. This page is totally
devoted to the GTA Rally Project that was started a on the 2 August 1998.
For those of you who don't know what GTA Rally is all about, it is simply
put, a replacment for the "Cannonball" feature in Grand Theft Auto, but
instead of racing normal road cars, you get to drive high performance rally
cars around special rally stages.
At the moment, there isn't a lot to this page, but over time, it will
grow, giving valuable insite into the GTA Rally project. If you want
to find out more about the GTA Rally project, click on the Background link.
If you would like to help us at the GTA Rally project, click on the "Contact
Us" button. And finally, for more information on the current team
members, click on the "Team" button - we always welcome new contributers
to the project.
At the moment, we have 4 cars ready and 1 under development.
The ETA of the project is set for Mid September. |
